On November 21, 2011, at approximately 9:46 PM, La Mesa Police Department received a report that the Golden Spoon Frozen Yogurt located at 5640 Lake Murray Boulevard had just been robbed. A lone suspect knocked on the door of the closed business and got the attention of a female employee. The suspect then displayed a silver handgun and ordered the employee to unlock the door. The employee opened the door and the suspect entered the closed business. The suspect ordered the two employees to the back room where he used "zip ties" to restrain one of the employee's hands behind her back. The suspect then ordered the other employee to give him the money from the safe and register. Once the suspect was given the money, he restrained the second employee with zip ties. The suspect left the business with an undetermined amount of money.
La Mesa Police with the assistance of a San Diego Police helicopter searched the area for the suspect but were unsuccessful.
No customers were at the business at the time of the robbery and no one was injured.

Suspect #1: Black male adult, 30-40 years old, 5'10", medium build, possibly had a deformity to one of his eyes. He was wearing a dark jacket, construction type boots, white gloves and had a sheer scarf or mask over his face.
