Today, investigators with the La Mesa Police Department’s Traffic Unit located the suspect vehicle in the August 25^th, 2011 traffic accident where a 27 month old boy was seriously injured when struck by a car while walking across Fletcher Parkway at Trolley Court in La Mesa.  The driver who struck the boy had left the scene immediately after the accident.  A tip from a local Volkswagen dealer was a major break in the case, leading Accident Investigator Marc Patrick to locate the car in the City of El Cajon.  The car was impounded for further evidentiary analysis.

The La Mesa Police Department is continuing their investigation to determine who was driving the car at the time of the collision.  Investigators will be evaluating the facts and circumstance of the case to see if a request for charges would be appropriate in the future.
