On 05-12-11, at approximately 12:24 A.M., La Mesa Police Officers responded to a robbery alarm at the Shell Station, located at 5151 70th Street in the City of La Mesa.

The clerk at the Shell Station told officers that the suspect entered the store and posed as a customer.  After several minutes, the suspect approached the clerk and told him that he had a knife in his pocket.  The suspect then threatened to stab the clerk in the chest if he did not hand over the money in the register.  The clerk tried to stall the suspect and activated the robbery alarm.  The clerk did not give the suspect any money and the robbery was interrupted when other customers started to enter the store.  The suspect left the store and was last seen walking north on 70th Street.

Responding officers located the suspect and a knife near the intersection of 70th Street and Alvarado Road.  The knife was not displayed or used during the robbery.  There was no property loss or injuries as a result of the attempted robbery.  The suspect was booked into San Diego County Jail on the charge of 664/211 PC Attempted Robbery.

Suspect: Byron Lydell Brown, a 46 year old male from San Diego.
