This web site was established to provide La Mesa and bordering communities with useful resources, local crime news, crime prevention tools, and emergency preparedness information in hopes of making La Mesa a safer place to live. We are not affiliated with the La Mesa Police Department. Information and tools found on this site are gathered from many different sources including LMPD Press Releases, News articles from local tv stations and online news web sites. Although the web site is currently maintained by just a few concerned neighbors at this time, we encourage you to contact us if you'd like an active roll in adding relevant content to this site. Future goals of this web site include:
- Encouraging the LMPD to take an active roll in interacting with the community through a blog format.
- Encouraging dispatchers to update the Current Crime Alerts section when an elevated crime is in process which will ultimately result in:
- Less calls to the LMPD non-emergency number
- Alerting close-by neighbors of a suspects' description increasing the chances that someone will see where a suspect has hidden or what kind of vehicle they fled in.
- Eliminate the frustration of deciphering what the helicopter loud speaker is announcing
- Arming concerned neighbors with the knowledge of what is going on allowing us to have some control over our own safety
- Help to build a larger and more effective Neighborhood Watch program
- Provide a comprehensive plan for La Mesa in case of an emergency such as a large earthquake, flooding, wildfires or terrorist act
Please tell your friends and neighbors about this site. The more people that are aware of its existence will make it a more useful site for everyone.
